Charlestown dropped their record down to 9-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Corydon Central Panthers by a score of 1-0. The Pirates were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Panthers' pitcher proved too tough.

As for Corydon Central, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Corydon Central's part, not much got past Ava Gerdon, who gave up just six hits to keep Charlestown off the board. Gerdon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Charlestown and Corydon Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Pirates will take on New Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (85 vs. 318). Meanwhile, Corydon Central (ranked 37th) will meet Tri-West Hendricks (ranked 149th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers are on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Bruins a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
