Softball Recap: Astronaut Gets the Win

Astronaut let Space Coast stack four runs on them in the third inning on Monday but luckily Astronaut prevailed anyway. The War Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Vipers 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the War Eagles in their matchups with the Vipers: they've now won nine in a row.

Riley Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Arielys Rosado, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Daisy Mixson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Astronaut's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Space Coast, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Astronaut will venture away from home to take on Deltona at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Space Coast, they will welcome Satellite at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
