Baseball Recap: Canadian Cougars vs. Eufaula Ironheads
Canadian had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it seven. They came up short against the Eufaula Ironheads, falling 14-5. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ironheads apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.
Eufaula's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Eufaula's part, Kase Bell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off three hits. Bell was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Eufaula got a massive performance out of Fischer McAllister, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Canadian will square off against Warner at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eufaula, they will challenge Sallisaw at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
