Softball Recap: Florence Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bob Jones

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Florence). They put the hurt on the Bob Jones Patriots with a sharp 19-5 victory on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Patriots on their field since March 12, 2015.

Mk Hawkins was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Florence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bob Jones only posted an OBP of .324.

The win was the fourth in a row for Florence, bringing their record up to 12-16. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bob Jones, they dropped their record down to 8-25 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will head out to take on West Limestone at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bob Jones, they will head out on the road to square off against Austin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Bears have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
