Basketball Recap: Wake Forest Takes a Loss

Wake Forest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 72-53 to the Rolesville Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-52 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Wake Forest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Scott Jones went 10-for-18 to rack up 26 points. The matchup was Jones' third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Juel Tillery, who posted seven points and five boards.

Jayvon Chestnut went supernova for Rolesville, going 5-for-6 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Chestnut has posted since back in January of 2024. Anthony Roberts, Jr was another key player, going 6-for-8 en route to 14 points.

Wake Forest's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Rolesville, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.

Wake Forest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rolesville, they will face off against Knightdale at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Knightdale will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Rolesville surely won't give up without a fight.
