Volleyball Recap: Lehi Pioneers vs. Skyridge Falcons
After flying high against Cottonwood on Monday, Lehi came back down to earth. The Pioneers fell 3-1 to the Skyridge Falcons on Tuesday. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
While Lehi ultimately came up short, they really made Skyridge work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-16, 25-21, 24-26, 25-11.
Aliya Shewell paced Lehi's offense, picking up ten kills. Shewell got some help from Savannah Morehead and her 23 assists. Shewell also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Annika LeBaron, each putting up three.
Estelle Slaney went supernova For Skyridge., getting 20 digs and seven assists. That's the most assists Slaney has posted since back in September. Emmie Mahe also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Lehi now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Skyridge, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Lehi and American Fork will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Skyridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Skyline on the 15th.
