Basketball Recap: Hubbard Piles Up the Points Against Maplewood

Hubbard had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 31-point drubbing they dealt Maplewood on Saturday. The Hubbard Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Maplewood Rockets 59-28. 59 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Leading Hubbard to victory were Jakob Hayes and Kyle Barr. Hayes dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards, while Barr went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Hayes a new career-high in steals (two). Kenyen Franklin was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hubbard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They are 3-8 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Hubbard's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Hubbard will venture away from home to challenge Struthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hubbard is facing Struthers at the right time seeing as Struthers is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Maplewood, they will welcome Mathews at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
