Basketball Recap: Gadsden Comes Up Short

Gadsden had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-14 to make it 17. They were dealt a 74-30 defeat at the hands of the Centennial Hawks. The Panthers lost against the Hawks in their previous head to head back in February of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 74-51 score last time.

As for Centennial, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points over those games.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ruiz Laborin led the charge by putting up nine points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Anthony Eres, who posted nine points and four steals.

Gadsden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-53 loss against Mayfield on the 30th. As for Centennial, they have also already played their next contest, a 61-50 win against Organ Mountain on the 30th.
