Softball Recap: Delaware Academy Wins Going Away Against Walton

Delaware Academy won the last time they faced Walton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 33-17 margin over the Warriors. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 15 runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Rebecca Verspoor, who fired off two home runs, five runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Dennis, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delaware Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.

Delaware Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Walton, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Delaware Academy will face off against Charlotte Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Walton, they will challenge Sidney at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Team have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season.
