Baseball Recap: Booker Gets the Win

Booker's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Southeast Seminoles 9-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-5 two weeks ago.

Addiel Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dameer Watford, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Zakori Edmond was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Booker now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Southeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Booker will welcome North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southeast, they will host Bayshore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bayshore has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something Southeast will no doubt try to take advantage of.
