Baseball Recap: Deerfield Takes a Loss

If Deerfield was feeling good fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Williams Bay on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Demons came up short against the Bulldogs on Friday, falling 27-18. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (14), the Demons still had to take the loss.

Zander Hart stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Brattlie, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Deerfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Williams Bay, they moved to 3-12 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Deerfield will square off against Palmyra-Eagle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Demons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Williams Bay, they will challenge Kenosha Christian Life at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
