Softball Recap: Lawndale Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hawthorne Math & Science Academy

Lawndale made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lawndale Cardinals were the clear victor by a 20-10 margin over the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators on Wednesday. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Emely Garcia, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.

Lawndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lawndale's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Lawndale will square off against Morningside at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they will face off against Environmental Charter at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
