Marathon has gone 9-1 against Miami Country Day recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Dolphins will be taking part in a tournament against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Marathon took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Mater Bay Academy 10-3. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.

Mason Thornton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Jason Stubblefield Jr. was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Leo Mendez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Miami Country Day hadn't done well against Riviera Prep recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 13-3 win.
Adam Jackson and Parker Zaron did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Zaron went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Marcus Ferrer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Miami Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.
Miami Country Day's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marathon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for Miami Country Day, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Marathon's hitters?
Marathon took their victory against Miami Country Day when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Dolphins repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
