Basketball Recap: Bountiful Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

With a playoff win on the line, Bountiful rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-50 victory over the Woods Cross Wildcats. Given the RedHawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Wildcats are ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlie Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The contest was his third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Aisake Willis, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

Despite the loss, Woods Cross still got an impressive performance from Elliot Bendinger, who went 5-for-8 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. Bendinger is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last six games he's played. Brendan Eilert also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Bountiful pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Woods Cross, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Bountiful will take on Highland at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Bountiful's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. Woods Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
