Basketball Game Preview: Chinle Wildcats vs. St. Johns Redskins

The Chinle Wildcats will square off against the St. Johns Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chinle comes in on 16 and St. Johns on seven.

Chinle's tournament run continued when they took on Tuba City on Saturday. Chinle came out on top against Tuba City by a score of 53-42. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Warriors are ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Johns sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 win over Round Valley on Saturday.

St. Johns pushed their record up to 28-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Chinle, their win bumped their record up to 26-1.

Chinle beat St. Johns 56-44 in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Will Chinle repeat their success, or does St. Johns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
