Baseball Recap: South Elgin's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

South Elgin entered their tilt with Glenbard South on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Give the Storm's pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The result came thanks to Zacharia Barkho's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Colin Tuftedal was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Lund, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

South Elgin pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Glenbard South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-14.

Looking ahead, South Elgin will challenge West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last five games the Wildcats have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Glenbard South, they will face off against Larkin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
