Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Litchfield Dragons by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the eighth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Kirsten Heber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Aubrey Barnes was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted has already played their next match, a 10-3 win against New London-Spicer on the 10th. As for Litchfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 28-10 victory against Watertown-Mayer on the 10th.
