Softball Recap: Silver Beats Santa Teresa for Their Third Straight Win

Silver entered their tilt with Santa Teresa on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Desert Warriors a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Colts, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ariel Alvarado was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brailyn Lopez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maria Ruelaz, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Silver was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Silver's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Santa Teresa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
