Volleyball Recap: Jermya Dickerson and Ava Gibbs Secure Win for the Woodlands

The Woodlands's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Willis Wildkats. This was a revenge game for the Highlanders: when they faced off against the Wildkats back in August, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

The Woodlands walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 19-25, 25-12, 25-16.

The Woodlands was led to victory by Ava Gibbs and JerMya Dickerson. Gibbs had 33 digs and seven assists, while Dickerson had 20 assists and 15 digs. Those 15 digs gave Dickerson a new career-high. Cate Vickers also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Willis lost, don't look at AVERY WOOD. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs.

The victory got The Woodlands back to even at 17-17. As for Willis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-17 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. The Woodlands will face off against rival Caney Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Willis is set to challenge their familiar foe Cleveland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
