Baseball Game Preview: Fenwick Friars vs. Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack

The Fenwick Friars will challenge the Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fenwick is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Glenbrook North just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 11-4 to the Spartans.

Fenwick got a good showing from Bobby Milder, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Milder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ben Jarnecke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Michael McMahon, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Saint Ignatius College Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Huntley, falling 8-2.

Alec Gunderson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Saint Ignatius College Prep now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Fenwick, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

Fenwick came out on top in a nail-biter against Saint Ignatius College Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Friars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolfpack turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
