Game recap: Palma High School Football Team tops Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. - Palma (Salinas, Calif.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 35-21 victory over Salinas (Calif.) on Saturday. The Chieftains captured the lead for good when Brandon Olivares ran for a touchdown.

The Cowboys pulled ahead on a touchdown pass by Ruben Flores, and subsequently went into halftime leading 21-7. The Chieftains scored the winning points with a Olivares touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.

With the win Palma extended its winning streak to five games. PHS defeated the Eagles 55-7 last week.

The Chieftains' most effective player was Sean Robison. The senior caught two touchdowns.

Flores played well for Salinas. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.



Palma also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 37-21.

In a Monterey Bay - Gabilan game next week Palma (6-2) takes on Gilroy, and Salinas (5-4) will go up against North Salinas in a non-conference game.
