Preview: Academy for Innovative Education Aviators vs. Cristo Rey Monarchs
The Academy for Innovative Education Aviators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cristo Rey Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.
Last Friday, Academy for Innovative Education suffered a rough 64-42 loss at the hands of the Dolphins. Academy for Innovative Education was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Matthew Johnson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayar Thompson, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-33, which was the final score in Cristo Rey's tilt against the Sharks two weeks ago. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cristo Rey has scored all season.
Academy for Innovative Education dropped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Cristo Rey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Academy for Innovative Education took their win against the Monarchs when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 56-34. Will Academy for Innovative Education repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
