Basketball Game Preview: Port Chester Rams vs. Yonkers Bulldogs

The Port Chester Rams will head out on the road to take on the Yonkers Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Yonkers took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Port Chester, who comes in off a win.

If Yonkers heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Port Chester took over last week. Port Chester narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sleepy Hollow 37-35.

Elise Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. Those 21 points gave her a new career-high. Karah Provenzano was another key player, putting up no points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Port Chester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Yonkers' good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They came up short against Barack Obama School for Social Justice, falling 57-32.

Port Chester is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Yonkers, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-7.

Port Chester strolled past Yonkers in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 67-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Chester since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
