Basketball Recap: Hawley Takes a Loss

Hawley was the 70-54 winner over East Grand Forks when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawley Nuggets took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Grand Forks Green Wave. While losing is never fun, the Nuggets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Green Wave are ranked 87th).

Hawley has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-21 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. East Grand Forks' victory bumped their record up to 21-10.

Hawley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Grand Forks, they will square off against Pelican Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Pelican Rapids' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 contests.
