Soccer Recap: Salpointe Catholic Falls Short Against Ranked Sunnyside

On Friday, Salpointe Catholic faced Sunnyside in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Salpointe Catholic Lancers lost 3-0 to the Sunnyside Blue Devils. The Lancers were red-hot offensively heading into the match (they scored no less than four goals in the three games prior), but the Blue Devils' defense proved too tough.

Salpointe Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 22-2. As for Sunnyside, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

Salpointe Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sunnyside, they will head out to square off against Pinnacle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
