After a string of seven wins, Coal City's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marian Catholic Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Coalers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Spartans are ranked 25th).

Coal City's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Marian Catholic, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coal City has already played their next match (against Joliet Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Marian Catholic will take on Kankakee at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
