Basketball Game Preview: Holy Name Green Wave vs. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals

The Holy Name Green Wave are taking a road trip to square off against the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Name is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Holy Name is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Archbishop Hoban on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Holy Name was dealt a 95-44 loss at the hands of Archbishop Hoban. The Green Wave were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 59-25.

Meanwhile, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy escaped with a win on Tuesday against St. Vincent-St. Mary by the margin of a single free throw, 66-65. The win was all the more spectacular given the Royals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 37th).

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Holy Name, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Holy Name couldn't quite finish off Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 61-59. Can Holy Name avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
