The Hughson Huskies and the Turlock Bulldogs will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hughson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Hughson fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Ripon on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-3. The Huskies' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Emma Carne was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Presley Wells made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Grace Leedom, who went 3-for-5 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Turlock made sure to put some runs up on the board against Golden Valley on Monday. Turlock walked away with a 10-5 win over Golden Valley.
Like Hughson, Turlock also got a great game from a two-way player: Audrey Bailey. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Bailey a new career-low. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karley Wool, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Jaysee Rubio was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Hughson's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-5-1. As for Turlock, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Turlock's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Hughson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Turlock, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Hughson keep running through batters, or will Turlock buck the trend?
Hughson took their win against Turlock in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 14-2. Will Hughson repeat their success, or does Turlock has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
