Baseball Recap: Bowling Green Takes a Loss

Bowling Green extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-16 in the process. They lost 10-3 to the Northview Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 9-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Bowling Green got a good showing from Josh Kunstmann, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Kasey Dean was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Bowling Green is 3-1 when Dean posts two or more runs, but 3-15 otherwise.

As for Northview, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-9. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

On Northview's side, Roman McKarus tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Conner Draper, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Josh Sprenger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bowling Green will square off against Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northview, they will challenge Southview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
