Softball Recap: Edgar Comes Up Short

Edgar extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-9. They lost 7-1 to the Marathon Red Raiders. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Red Raiders when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Annie Kolodziej spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.

At the plate, Edgar saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendyl Apfelbeck, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Marathon, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Marathon's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Allison Podjaski gave up only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Podjaski has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Danica Staus was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Tyla Beilke-Seubert was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

While Edgar had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
