Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks vs. Wallace County Wildcats
The Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks lost against the Wallace County Wildcats back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Wheatland-Grinnell suffered a tough 44-24 defeat at the hands of Wallace County. While losing is never fun, Wheatland-Grinnell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Wallace County is ranked 63rd).
Wheatland-Grinnell got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Aliviah Ball and
Marissa Beckman, who each put up six points.
Wheatland-Grinnell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Wallace County, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
After both having extra time off, Wheatland-Grinnell and Cheylin will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Wallace County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rawlins County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
