Baseball Game Preview: Monmouth-Roseville Titans vs. Sherrard Tigers

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans will challenge the Sherrard Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Monmouth-Roseville fell victim to Hall and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Red Devils, falling 8-0. The Titans just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Monmouth-Roseville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Way, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Way is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Sherrard has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.06 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 10-3 to Newman Central Catholic.

Garrett Woodward made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Monmouth-Roseville's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Sherrard, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Monmouth-Roseville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sherrard struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Monmouth-Roseville beat Sherrard 6-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
