Volleyball Recap: Yuba City Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Twelve Bridges on Tuesday, Yuba City came back down to earth. The Honkers came up short against the River Valley Falcons on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Honkers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Yuba City couldn't get the win, but they sure gave River Valley a tough time in the third set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-17, 33-31.

Emily Smith paced Yuba City's offense, picking up ten kills. Smith also shared the team's lead in assists with Athziri Romero: they picked up 11 each. Dessa McDonald controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Emylee Hull went supernova For River Valley., getting 20 digs and three assists. That's the most assists Hull has posted since back in September of 2024.

Yuba City's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for River Valley, their victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.

Yuba City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Del Campo on the 23rd. As for River Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Orland on the 24th.
