Football Recap: Irion County Takes a Loss

Irion County lost against Klondike back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hornets were dealt an 88-6 defeat at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Cougars are ranked 12th).

Luke Seahorn threw for 43 yards and one TD. Kyle Olivan was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Hagen Turman rushed for 30 yards.

Irion County's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Klondike, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Irion County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 60-12 defeat against May on the 3rd. As for Klondike, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dawson at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th. The Cougars will be up against the Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
