Basketball Recap: Silex Starts off Right with Win over North Callaway

Silex gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They came out on top against the North Callaway Thunderbirds by a score of 52-42. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Owls as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, North Callaway still got an impressive performance from Lakyn Hartley, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Hartley has posted since back in January. Sophie Olsson was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for North Callaway and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Silex will face off against Mexico at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for North Callaway, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-33 loss against Father Tolton on the 9th.
