Recap: Erie Royals vs. Canisius Crusaders
The Erie Royals lost against the Canisius Crusaders back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Erie suffered a tough 29-6 loss at the hands of Canisius. Erie has struggled against Canisius recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Erie's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.9 points per game. As for Canisius, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Erie will head out on the road to face off against McDowell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McDowell has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last four matchups. As for Canisius, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute at 2:00 p.m. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Canisius is ranked 23rd).
