Softball Preview: Petersburg Buffaloes vs. Borden County Coyotes

Petersburg has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Borden County Coyotes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Petersburg knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Borden County likes a good challenge.

In what's become a running theme this season, Petersburg gave their fans yet another huge victory last Tuesday. They blew past Jayton 22-10.

Bailey Norris and Kynlee Ovalle did most of the damage at the plate: Norris got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Ovalle scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4. Brianna Ortiz was another key contributor, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Meanwhile, Borden County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Ralls by a score of 9-8.

Petersburg is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Borden County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.
