Baseball Game Preview: IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers vs. Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys

The IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers will take on the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. IDEA Quest College Prep has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for IDEA Quest College Prep's offense. They came up short against Hebbronville on Friday, falling 21-0. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ben Benavides made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Jax Garcia was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Ramirez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Falfurrias was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Falfurrias' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for IDEA Quest College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
