Cor Jesu Academy hasn't had much luck against Lafayette recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Chargers will face off against the Lancers. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Cor Jesu Academy sitting on six straight wins and Lafayette on 22.
Cor Jesu Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Jackson, who was ranked fourth at the time (Cor Jesu Academy was ranked 11th). The Chargers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Fighting Indians on Tuesday.
The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17.

Cor Jesu Academy relied on the efforts of Tori Gallen, who had six digs and two aces, and Ginnie Normile, who had 13 digs. Gallen has been hot recently, having also posted 12 or more assists the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, Lafayette made easy work of Marquette on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Lafayette not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Marquette between 16 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-19.
Cor Jesu Academy better focus on containing Addy Wiese and Alexa Hastings as the pair were huge in Lafayette's win. Wiese had 25 digs and one assist, while Hastings had five digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Hastings a new career-high.
Lafayette was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive matches.
Cor Jesu Academy's victory bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Lafayette, their win bumped their record up to 37-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Cor Jesu Academy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
