Hiawatha came into Thursday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the St. Marys Bears on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 two weeks ago.

Claire Twombly paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up nine kills. Twombly got some help from Adison Williams and her 19 assists. Williams was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Hiawatha's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for St. Marys, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20-2.

Hiawatha has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Jefferson West on the 18th. As for St. Marys, they will challenge Nemaha Central on Monday.
