Mt. Carmel faced St. Michael in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cubs fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Cubs' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Mt. Carmel actually scored more points across those three sets (62-60), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 15-25, 20-18.

Annabelle LaBure paced Mt. Carmel's offense, picking up 11 kills. LaBure got some help from Sarah Clement and her 28 assists. Finally, Gabrielle Locascio kept Mt. Carmel's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for St. Michael, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Mt. Carmel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against St. Scholastica on the 20th. As for St. Michael, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Catholic - N.I. on the 20th.
