Volleyball Recap: Kimberly Papermakers vs. Waunakee Warriors
Kimberly faced Waunakee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Papermakers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Papermakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.
Harper Van Lannen paced Kimberly's offense, picking up ten kills. Van Lannen got some help from Emma Tesch and her 15 assists.
Waunakee was led to victory by Amy Denkert and Kendall Scadden. Denkert had four aces and three digs, while Scadden had 14 digs and one assist. Those four aces gave Denkert a new career-high.
This is the second loss in a row for Kimberly and nudges their season record down to 20-10. As for Waunakee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, Kimberly and Waunakee will both be playing Pewaukee the next time they take the court. The Papermakers will head out to face the Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
