Basketball Recap: Westerville Central Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Westerville Central won the last time they faced Central Crossing and things went their way on Friday too. The Westerville Central Warhawks enjoyed a cozy 60-43 win over the Central Crossing Comets.

Central Crossing lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cordelia Watkins, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points along with eight boards and six blocks. The dominant performance gave Watkins a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Gunnell, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Westerville Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Central Crossing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Westerville Central and Central Crossing could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Westerville Central (ranked 255th) will meet Dublin Jerome (ranked 32nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Central Crossing (ranked 455th) will meet Olentangy (ranked 22nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
