Basketball Recap: Chase County Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Chase County's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 50-42 victory over the Perkins County Plainsmen. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Plainsmen are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Perkins County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison York, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Libby Cole, who put up seven points and eight boards.

Chase County's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Perkins County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Chase County will take on Hershey at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hershey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Perkins County, they will take on Kimball in a tournament on Friday. Perkins County also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 50 points per game.
