Football Recap: Iowa Yellowjackets vs. Jennings Bulldogs
Iowa gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They took down the Jennings Bulldogs 38-22. The Yellowjackets pushed the score to 38-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.
Jonathan Walker Jr. had a dynamite game for Iowa, picking up 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 69 yards. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Another player making a difference was Kaston Lewis, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iowa is headed away from home for the first time to take on Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jennings, they will take on Eunice at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have been evenly matched recently as the teams are 5-5 against one another since September of 2014.
