Preview: Pantego Christian Panthers vs. Grace Prep Lions
The Pantego Christian Panthers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Grace Prep Lions at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th. Pantego Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while Grace Prep is ranked 325th).
On Thursday, Pantego Christian ended up a good deal behind Trinity Christian and lost 53-39. Pantego Christian has not had much luck with Trinity Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Grace Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over Lake Country Christian.
Grace Prep found their leader in underclassman Zaria Howard, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Durand, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Pantego Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Grace Prep, they pushed their record up to 23-7 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Pantego Christian took a serious blow against Grace Prep when the teams last played back in January, falling 67-32. Can Pantego Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
