Volleyball Recap: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Mullen Mustangs
Eaglecrest was the 3-1 winner over Mullen when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Raptors fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.
Eaglecrest started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-12, 15-6.
Anayah Rucker paced Eaglecrest's offense, picking up 17 kills. Rucker got some help from Natalia Jarzebczyk and her 46 assists. Cailyn Baldermann controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mullen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Milli Mares, who had five digs and three aces. That's the most aces Mares has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Braylee Shatley, who had 13 digs and one assist.
Eaglecrest's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Mullen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Eaglecrest has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Arapahoe on the 9th. As for Mullen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Cherokee Trail on the 9th.
