Softball Recap: Raymond Comes Up Short

Raymond extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-12. They lost 22-2 to the Terry Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.

Raymond saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zalayjah Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Terry, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Terry's side, Alana Lake made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Lake has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Alyssa Lake was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alana Cutrer, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Raymond will welcome Morton at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Terry, they will venture away from home to square off against Hattiesburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
