Soccer Game Preview: Jersey vs. Civic Memorial

Jersey is 0-10 against Civic Memorial since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:45 p.m. Jersey has given up an average of 4.5 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Jersey's offense. They came up short against Waterloo on Tuesday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Jersey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Waterloo are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial kept a clean sheet against Highland on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

Landree Wallace and Brooke Harris scored both of Civic Memorial's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Civic Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four contests. As for Jersey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11-1.
