Football Recap: Seventy-First Falcons vs. Terry Sanford Bulldogs
Seventy-First had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Terry Sanford Bulldogs by a score of 46-44 on Friday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Jayson Franklin and Shon Pone certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Franklin rushed for 211 yards and five scores while picking up 12.4 yards per carry, while Pone rushed for 163 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.
Jacob Moore had an outrageously good game for Terry Sanford as he rushed for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 193 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.1% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Moore has posted since back in August of 2024. Isaiah Washington was another key player, gaining 104 total yards.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seventy-First will take on Cape Fear at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Terry Sanford, they will square off against Pine Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
